Doğan Organik Ürünler as One of the Top 10 Best Practice Cases

19.11.2004

The Enterprise Directorate-General of the European Commission selects Doğan Organik Ürünler’s Organic Livestock Breeding Facility in Kelkit as one of the top 10 best practice cases in Corporate Social Responsibility.

In the European Multi-Stakeholder Forum on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), EU members discussed the vital importance of responsible entrepreneurship to improve the competitiveness of economies, quality of life and work. The Forum decided to start a campaign to integrate social and environmental concerns in business operations and in interactions with stakeholders on a voluntary basis.

The Enterprise Directorate-General organized a contest in this campaign for the EU countries and as well as candidate countries, Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria and Norway. The event management is carried out by EUROCHAMBERS and UEAPME (European Association of Craft Small and Medium-sized Enterprises); and TOBB (The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey) in Turkey.

Among more than a hundred participants from across Europe, the Organic Livestock Breeding Facility project by Doğan Holding was jugded to be qualified as one of the best ten cases and will be studied in workshops throughout the campaign until June 2005. The fact that an enterprise from Turkey starred among European countries shows the distance Turkey has covered in its quest to join the EU.

The campaign will conclude with 65 one-day events organized in different locations across Europe. TOBB and Doğan Organik Ürünler Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. will be welcoming the participants to the campaign on the 4th of February in Ankara and 19th of April in Istanbul.
